Sewer camera inspection: cost, time & findings

Can I book sewer camera inspection at night or on a weekend?

Yes. You can call day or night for service in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. We confirm technician and equipment availability, access, price and the arrival window before arranging the visit.

What is a sewer scope inspection?

A sewer scope is a camera inspection of the accessible interior of an agreed sewer line. For a property purchase, confirm which section the buyer or inspector needs checked, access permission and the required findings. It does not replace the general home inspection.

How should I prepare for a sewer camera inspection?

Tell us the affected fixtures, any drain products used and the question you want answered. Confirm known access, permission and any requested recording. You do not need to open connections or remove the toilet yourself.

How long does a sewer camera inspection take?

The time depends on access, the pipe section and any obstruction. A difficult entry or blocked route can require more work or limit the inspection. Call to confirm the planned visit window and the charge if the intended section cannot be reached.

Can a sewer camera go down the toilet?

That depends on the camera and route. RIDGID’s microReel manual excludes toilet traps for that model. Confirm the actual equipment and entry point; any proposed fixture removal needs its own agreement.

Can a sewer camera see through water?

Standing water can obscure the pipe interior, so a camera may not show everything below or beyond it. Water does not automatically rule out inspection. We explain which sections can be viewed and which remain uncertain; an incomplete view is not a complete assessment of the pipe.

How much does a sewer scope inspection cost?

From $100. Inspection of an accessible sewer line; clearing is quoted separately. Access, the pipe section and requested findings can change the total. We confirm the price and any video or written report before starting.

Does a sewer camera inspection include video or a report?

Video and written findings are agreed for your job, not automatically included. Ask when booking so we can confirm recording, file format, delivery and any added price before inspecting.

Can I book a sewer camera inspection without knowing where the cleanout is?

Yes, you can request an assessment and say the access is unknown. Availability and a suitable entry point still need confirmation before the inspection can proceed.

Sewer scope inspection
Views the accessible pipe interior for visible blockages, buildup and damage.
Inspection access
A suitable cleanout or other agreed entry point is needed.
Video and findings
Recording, written findings and delivery are agreed before booking.

When do I need a sewer camera inspection?

Camera and monitor showing the visible interior of a drain.
Recurring sewer line clogs
A camera can help investigate why a sewer line keeps backing up by showing visible conditions in the section it reaches. It cannot confirm the cause from symptoms alone or inspect beyond an obstruction.
Camera inspection after drain cleaning
Inspection can show the accessible pipe after a blockage is cleared. Clearing the drain and recording its condition are separate services; we agree on the section to inspect before work.
Sewer scope before buying a house
A sewer scope examines an agreed section of sewer pipe before a purchase decision. It is separate from the general home inspection. Confirm the entry point, access permission and any video or written findings required by the buyer or inspector.

Where does a sewer camera enter the pipe?

Inspection entry, bends along the route and an unseen downstream section.

The camera enters through a suitable pipe access point, such as an accessible cleanout. You can book an assessment if the access is unknown; you do not need to open plumbing or remove a fixture yourself.

Sewer cleanout and camera reach
The camera needs a suitable entry point and a route it can travel. Pipe bends, size and restrictions affect how far the equipment can pass. We agree on the entry point and section before inspecting.
Sewer inspections in condos and rentals
Work on shared lines needs an authorized contact and access to the relevant common areas. Mention parking, gates and any chemicals already used so the visit can be arranged.
Toilet removal or clearing before inspection
Some inspections need additional access or preliminary clearing. That work is priced and approved separately; a camera inspection does not automatically include removing a toilet or clearing a blocked line.

What can a sewer camera inspection find?

Visible blockages, buildup and pipe damage
The camera shows conditions inside the pipe it reaches. Debris, standing water or the lens condition can obscure the image. We explain visible findings together with their location and viewing limits.
A blockage can stop the sewer camera
An obstruction may prevent further travel. The camera is an inspection tool, not a device for forcing through a blockage. Any unreached section remains uninspected.
What a sewer scope cannot certify
A visual inspection does not include a pressure test, structural certification or a guarantee of remaining pipe life. A different assessment may be needed for those questions.

What is included in a sewer camera inspection?

Agreed pipe section and inspection charge
The quote covers the agreed inspection section and access. We confirm any additional access work and the charge if a restriction prevents completion. Findings must identify any section that could not be inspected.
Sewer inspection video or written report
Video, images or written findings can be discussed when booking. We confirm availability, format, delivery and any additional charge for your job; they are not automatically included.
Drain cleaning or repair after inspection
The findings help decide whether more cleaning, locating or repair assessment is needed. These are separate jobs, with their own agreed scope and price.
